We are beginning the process of gathering new name ideas for the Burke Gilman Playground Park. Eli provided a beautiful, lasting inspiration for our project and community, but this park is not for him...it's for us all. The park needs a special name that comes from community and reflects the values of its people and place.
We need your help!
Check out our naming page at www.elispark.org/naming for three fun activities from a local poet, artist and author to help get your creativity flowing. Be sure to read the guidance on how to honor Seattle’s first people while thinking of place names.
Share your ideas with us by uploading a picture, document or typing in names and let us know which activities you tried! You can also help by sending the link to your communities and sharing our posts to help spread the word far and wide.
We are taking submissions until February 25th. Everyone who submits a name will be entered into a raffle and 20 people will be randomly selected to win $10 gift cards!
(Thank you to an anonymous donor for the generous donation.)
All submissions will be shared on our website. You can follow along for more inspiration. After the 25th, we'll post a short survey so check back to rank your favorites.
Everyone who takes the survey will be automatically entered into a raffle and one person will be randomly selected to win a $100 gift card to City People's!
(Thank you to City People's for the generous donation.)
We will pass your favorite names on to our partners at Seattle Parks and Recreation to help inform their official naming process.
